ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Our client is a successful engineering, fabrication and computerised precision manufacturer of aluminium and steel products.  Celebrating over 40 years of operation, they have a strong reputation for embracing best practice principles in manufacturing and a solid track record of investing in state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.

In 2017, they moved to a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Dandenong South and since then have nearly doubled their workforce

THE HR JOURNEY TO DATE:

Whilst this business does have a basic HR framework in place, for the most part, this is a newly created role aimed at ensuring all HR legal and compliance requirements are met and assisting the business to attract, engage, develop and retain their workforce.

They currently employ approximately 90 staff, many of which are long standing employees and boast a low staff attrition rate (less than 10%) and very few performance issues.

This business also has a very strong commitment to leadership and their people, for example, in 2019 they were finalists in the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame in the category, Leaders in Workforce Skill Development. This award recognised for their commitment to cross skills training amongst all production staff and their apprenticeship program, which is run in conjunction with Chisholm Institute.

WHAT IS THE HR PLAN FOR 2022 AND BEYOND?

Going forward, they are looking to continue their HR journey and want to ensure they have a strong employee value proposition that attracts and retains the top 10% of performers in their industry.

This is a true generalist position that will see you working across the entire employee lifecycle. Key areas of focus will include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Rewards and Recognition
  • HR Governance – contracts, policy, compliance
  • Employee development, engagement, management, and retention
  • HR metrics

This role will be both operational and strategic in nature, so whilst you will be managing the day-to-day HR operations, supporting the Directors and responding to ad hoc HR related queries, you will also work on designing and implementing HR strategies and solutions aimed at developing, retaining and upskilling their workforce.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking an experienced and established HR professional with:

  • A minimum of 8 years plus experience as a generalist HR practitioner
  • Degree in Human Resources Management, Employment Law, Industrial Relations or similar
  • Excellent working knowledge of the various State and Federal statutory requirements that underpin human resources, industrial and employee relations
  • The ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships built on trust and diplomacy

We are seeking candidates that have the ability to see the “bigger picture”, who can provide clear HR advice that is practical, contemporary and most importantly, commercial.

Candidates with previous experience in the manufacturing will be highly regarded but it is not absolutely essential.

WHAT IS ON OFFER?

This role is an HRM’s dream job!

Not only will you have the freedom to design, develop and implement a best practice HR Framework, you will be working alongside business leaders who are passionate about the company and the people they employ.

They are not looking to ‘tick HR boxes’, but rather, they are committed to building a best practice employee value proposition, one that will help them to attract and retain that best talent.
