Description

About the Company

Our client is a leading poultry farm network based in Carisbrook, Victoria, raising close to 20 million birds each year across two key locations. Operating state-of-the-art broiler facilities equipped with DACS heating and ventilation, purpose-built housing, and sophisticated automation, they pair scale with a strong commitment to animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and continuous improvement, positioning them as an industry leader in large-scale broiler farming.

Your Role as a Farm Manager

As a Farm Manager, you will be hands-on every day. You will work in the sheds and plant rooms to keep environmental and production systems running safely and efficiently, while ensuring bird welfare and performance. This includes monitoring and adjusting DACS ventilation and heating, investigating alarms, troubleshooting mechanical issues on feeders, drinkers and pumps, coordinating preventative maintenance, and completing minor repairs where safe and appropriate.

You will also collaborate with local Assistant Farm Managers, manage daily tasks and rosters, plan feed and gas usage, maintain accurate daily reports, address maintenance issues promptly, and coordinate subcontractors for specialised works. The role is practical and operational with a strong mechanical focus, not a purely husbandry position.

What They Offer
  • A competitive salary of $90,000 to $95,000 plus superannuation
  • A fully maintained 4WD utility vehicle
  • Comfortable on-site accommodation with utilities included (water, gas, power)
  • Five weeks of annual leave each year.

Qualifications We Seek

You will bring proven experience in intensive indoor livestock farming and the ability to manage growth performance while maintaining optimal shed environments.

Crucially, you will have strong mechanical aptitude and confidence working hands-on with ventilation, heating, and automated feeding systems, including fault-finding and basic repairs, as well as coordinating contractors for larger works.

You will have experience leading and rostering staff, solid basic administrative and computer skills (Word and Excel), a valid driver’s licence, full Australian working rights, and the physical fitness needed for a dynamic farm environment.

Trade or maintenance exposure (for example mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration) will be viewed favourably.
